Bridge on the river Ebro

In 2003 we elaborated for GISA a preliminary study for a new bridge over the river Ebro in Tortosa, with 3 spans of 78, 198 and 78 m, and a total length of 354 m.

A twin beam bridge whose main beams had a variable depth, depending on the moments envelope was designed.

The web, which is mostly resistant to the shear stress, lightens in the central area of the middle span where the shear stress is reduced. The discharge of the web is based on a K-triangulation, which can link the upper and lower strands of the beam.

The hollowing of the web gives the pedestrian traffic increased transparency, and outlines the flowchart of the shear stress of the main beams.
