Footbridges by Mario Guisasola prior to 2003 (Injelan)

As a professional at INJELAN, Mario Guisasola explored the formal possibilities of beam concept on various footbridges, relying on their internal structural performance.

The Right Bank Road Footbridge over the river Oria in Tolosa is an isostatic structure with a span of 52 m, which is halfway between plate girder and the truss.

The Ikastola - Usabal Footbridge on the Araxes river in Tolosa is a continuous beam of two spans of 4 and 30 m each, which has a slight variation of depth.

The San Pedro Footbridge over the river Deba in Elgoibar has a span of 50 m, and was conceived as a simple cable-stayed bridge. To this end, we designed 2 sets of independent stiffeners.

The Elizatze Footbridge in Ataun (L = 20 m) is elastically concreted in the Left Bank of the river Agauntza, so the depth of the structure is higher in that area, reducing sinuously into the opposite abutment.

Cristina Enea Footbridge in San Sebastian is 94 m long, it has 4 spans of 7/40/40/7 m., and it is supported by metal cruciform section piers. The design of the connection details between the different parts of the bridge through hinges, was given special attention in this project.
